The exhibition features Hattori’s graphic designs with the themes of “Cake” and “Wallpaper.” While the image depicted is of cakes, the work explores the machinery behind the production of image, in particular the concept and the use of CMYK in print production. In “Wallpaper” he borrows the principles of wallpapers – repetition, patterns, simplicity, and applied them to the graphic works.
Kazunari Hattori was born in 1964 in Tokyo, Japan. He graduated with a degree in Design from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music (now Tokyo University of the Arts) in 1988. Since 2001, he has actively worked as an independent graphic designer and art director for numerous organizations including the Kewpie Corporation, Ryuko Tsushin magazine, the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum and the Tokyo National Museum or Modern Art.
